Digitalisation transforming property sector

NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP) welcome centre, a hub connecting the factory, residential areas and vibrant community spaces.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's property development sector is undergoing significant transformation with digitalisation emerging as one of the most impactful trends, NCT Group project director Yap Chun Theng said.

Developers are increasingly adopting advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data to enhance operational efficiency, sustainability and user experience.

For the group, Yap said it is harnessing cutting-edge innovations through projects like NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP), designed as a net-zero emissions park and seamlessly integrating Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.

"With the adoption of IoT systems, NSIP achieves operational excellence while setting new benchmarks for future-ready industrial developments. These forward-thinking principles will also be a cornerstone of our upcoming project in Delapan, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and technologically advanced industrial solutions," he added.

The group, Yap said, is gearing up for a transformative 2025 with a series of major projects and initiatives aimed at accelerating growth and reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development.

As NCT's celebrates its 40th anniversary, he said the key highlights for the year include the grand launch of Grand Ion Majestic (GIM) and the opening of the luxurious 1001 Nights Hotel in Genting Highlands, both scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.

Additionally, the Hard Rock Café and a rock shop at GIM will open their doors in the first quarter of 2025, further enriching the region's entertainment and retail offerings.

He noted that in the industrial sector, key milestones include completing Phase 1 of the NSIP in the fourth quarter of 2025 and launching the INNOSPHERE development in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, as part of the group's efforts to attract both local and international investments.

The group is also introducing a suite of innovative residential and mixed development projects across Malaysia, including Ion Estuary Park in Ayer Keroh, Melaka; Ion Borneo Garden and Ion Marina Bay in Sabah, and several other developments strategically designed to meet market demands.

In 2024, the group solidified a few strategic partnerships for the industrial park, through the signing of memorandum of understanding with the Malaysia Enterprises Investment Association, along with Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation, Supercode Technology (M) Sdn Bhd, among others.

"Having said that, I am proud to share that NSIP has been honoured with three prestigious accolades from the Malaysian Book of Records - the first managed industrial park in Malaysia, the first industrial park with IR4.0 service facilities, and the largest 'Green RE' certified ESG industrial park," he added.

Looking ahead, Yap said NCT remains focused on identifying and seizing opportunities to expand its footprint across more states in Malaysia.

He further emphasised the company's commitment to driving growth and delivering value in the property, industrial development, and hospitality sectors.

"We are also taking a more proactive approach in integrating advanced smart solutions and embracing environmental, social and governance principles across our developments to create smarter, more efficient, and environmentally responsible communities that will benefitboth present and future generations," he added.
